Mae Ian yn Uwch Ddarlithydd mewn Biomecaneg Chwaraeon yn Ysgol Chwaraeon Caerdydd ac yn Gyfarwyddwr y Labordy Biomecaneg. Ymunodd â'r Ysgol yn 2006 fel cymrawd ymchwil ôl-ddoethurol, a daeth yn ddarlithydd yn 2009. Ers hynny, mae Ian wedi gwneud cyfraniad sylweddol i broffil ymchwil yr Ysgol, yn ogystal â'r rhaglen radd Gwyddor Chwaraeon ac Ymarfer Corff. Cafodd ei gynnwys yng nghyflwyniad Fframwaith Rhagoriaeth Ymchwil (REF) uchel ei barch yr Ysgol yn 2014 a chwaraeodd ran allweddol yn natblygiad y llwybr BSc newydd mewn Gwyddor Chwaraeon ac Ymarfer Corff yn ei rôl flaenorol fel cyfarwyddwr disgyblaeth biomecaneg.

Ymchwil / Cyhoeddiadau

Mae fy ymchwil yn canolbwyntio ar ddadansoddiad mecanyddol o symudiad mewn chwaraeon, yn enwedig rhedeg sbrintiau. Mae gen i ddiddordeb penodol mewn gwerthuso a nodweddu sbrintio elît trwy ddefnyddio modelu cyhyrysgerbydol o'r aelodau is, ac ymchwiliadau i'r berthynas rhwng hyd cam-amledd cam. Mae gen i ddiddordeb hefyd mewn cymhwyso'r canfyddiadau hyn i chwaraeon eraill lle mae sbrintio yn chwarae rhan bwysig mewn perfformiad.
