Mae ffocws fy ymchwil wedi’i ysbrydoli gan ddiddordeb mewn diwylliant materol a hanes llafar arferion gwehyddu llwythol hynafol sydd mewn perygl ac sy’n dirywio. Mae dilysrwydd ethnograffig a chodio semiotig treftadaeth ddiwylliannol sydd wedi'i ymgorffori mewn tecstilau seremonïol llwythol yn llywio fy ymchwil mewn tri phrif faes. (1) Al-Sadu Bedouin merched yn gwehyddwyr anialwch y Dwyrain Canol, gan ganolbwyntio ar y dechneg gwehyddu shajarah a semioteg y rhannwr pabell neu decstilau gata . (2) Iban Dayak gwehyddwyr gwydd backstrap ystof ikat a lliwio naturiol yn dod o jyngl Borneo, Malay-Indonesia. (3) Gwehyddion sidan Patola o Patan yng ngogledd-orllewin Gujarat, India. Mae trywyddau ymholi cyffredin rhwng y meysydd ymchwil hyn wedi fy arwain at astudio technegau gwehyddu â llaw traddodiadol, nyddu a lliwio naturiol a sgiliau anniriaethol sy’n dirywio, ac i gofnodi geirfa dawel patrymau semiotig.
Ar hyn o bryd rwy’n gweithio ar arwyddocâd y sgiliau llaw traddodiadol trosglwyddadwy hyn sydd mewn perygl ac yn dirywio i gymwysiadau digidol cyfoes i’w defnyddio yn yr unfed ganrif ar hugain. Rwy'n ysgrifennu cyfres o erthyglau a phenodau llyfrau, ac yn recordio rhaglen ddogfen i archwilio system werth fy nghanfyddiadau.
Mae gwreiddio fy ymchwil, a diddordebau addysgu a chynaliadwyedd wedi fy ngalluogi i ddod o hyd i’r prosiect Dyfodol Tyfu Cynaliadwy fel rhan o’r Peirianneg Dyfodol Cynhyrchu: Prosiect ymchwil Llythrennedd Carbon. Mae Dyfodol Tyfu Cynaliadwy yn fenter ymchwil gydweithredol gan Brifysgol Metropolitan Caerdydd i ddatblygu technoleg ryngweithiol, gerddi tyfu i ddarparu gwybodaeth academaidd a hefyd i gynhyrchu ffynonellau llifynnau naturiol (lliwiau ffabrig, paent ac inciau), ffibrau a deunyddiau (gwneud papur, prosesu llin ar gyfer lliain). a gwneud rhaffau) a roboteg ar gyfer technoleg amaethyddol (awtomatig, trachywiredd CNC FarmBot, ac ynni tanwydd microbaidd a gynhyrchir gan bridd). Bydd datblygiadau cynaliadwy yn y dyfodol yn cynnwys hidlo dŵr gwastraff a phlanhigion aromatig ar gyfer ymchwil aromatherapi.
