Mae Dr Debbie Clayton yn Brif Ddarlithydd yn yr Adran Seicoleg Gymhwysol a Chyfarwyddwr Rhaglen ar gyfer y Rhaglen Seicoleg BSc (Anrh). Ar lefel israddedig mae ei phrif gyfrifoldebau addysgu mewn meysydd sy'n gysylltiedig â iechyd, seicoleg amgylcheddol a chymdeithasol. Ar lefel meistr hi yw arweinydd y modiwl ar gyfer Sgiliau Ymchwil, a gyflwynir i fyfyrwyr PhD a Meistr.

Mae diddordebau ymchwil Debbie o fewn meysydd seicoleg ffordd o fyw, heneiddio'n iach a rôl gweithgareddau hamdden er mwyn ymgymryd yn gymdeithasol. Mae ganddi ddiddordeb arbennig mewn gweithgareddau sy'n cael eu cynnal yn yr awyr agored neu'n cynnwys rhyngweithio â natur, fel cerdded, garddio neu ffermio gofal. Mae tystiolaeth yn awgrymu y gallai gymryd rhan mewn gweithgareddau yn yr awyr agored gynnig buddion cadarnhaol i'n gweithrediad gwybyddol, iechyd corfforol a lles seicolegol. Gallai'r amgylchedd awyr agored fod yn allweddol i esbonio'r arsylwadau hyn, gan ddarparu ymdeimlad o ddianc, lle ac ymlacio. Neu gallai'r esboniad fod yn wahanol, er enghraifft, yn y lefelau uwch o gefnogaeth gymdeithasol, gweithgaredd corfforol, creadigrwydd neu hunan-barch. Arweiniodd Debbie y prosiect “Tyfu poblogaeth hŷn iach yng Nghymru”, a ariannwyd gan NISCHR, gan ymchwilio i fuddion garddio cymunedol a rhandiroedd i bobl hŷn. Gan adeiladu ar brosiect ymgysylltu â'r cyhoedd sy'n archwilio i ffermio gofal ar gyfer pobl ifanc sydd wedi'u diarddel, mae Debbie hefyd yn gweithio gyda Jenny Mercer i ymchwilio i fuddion gwirfoddoli ar Ffermydd Gofal.

Mae Debbie yn gymrawd o'r Academi Addysg Uwch ac mae'n gynghorydd addysgu ac yn gynrychiolydd staff ar y Rhaglen PGC (AU). O'r herwydd, mae'n cymryd rhan weithredol mewn goruchwylio staff sy'n astudio ar gyfer cymhwyster addysgu mewn Addysg Uwch yn ogystal â chyfrannu at ddatblygu cyrsiau ac archwilio portffolios tystiolaeth. Mae Debbie yn gyd-awdur gwerslyfr adolygu mewn Seicoleg Gymdeithasol, rhan o Gyfres BPS Psychology Express. Ysgrifennwyd y testun hwn i gynorthwyo myfyrwyr i adolygu'n effeithiol ac i gynorthwyo myfyrwyr i ddatblygu sgiliau gwerthuso.
