Gwybodath Personol
Mae fy niddordeb a'm arbenigedd yn seiliedig ar gymhwyso ffisieolg ymarfer corff mewn ymgais i wneud y gorau o berfformiad chwaraeon. Mae gen i ddiddordeb mewn llunio a datblygu dulliau a ddefnyddir wrth asesu pŵer an- / aerobig brig, effeithlonrwydd ymarfer corff a chineteg derbyn ocsigen mewn lleoliadau labordy a maes. Mae fy ffocws ymchwil cyfredol yn ymwneud yn bennaf â phenderfynu a deall ymatebion ffisioleg i ymarfer corff uwch. Yn y cyd-destun hwn, defnyddir ergometreg cranc braich generig a chwaraeon (hamdden neu gystadleuol). Roeddwn yn gyd-awdur (gyda Dr. Michael J. Price) mewn pennod ddiweddar yn llyfr BASES sy'n darparu argymhellion methodolegol sy'n gysylltiedig â phrofion ymarfer corff uwch ac sydd â chymhwysiad ym meysydd priodol perfformiad chwaraeon ac iechyd clinigol.

Y tu allan i'r gwaith rwy'n Ymddiriedolwr a Thrysorydd Cymdeithas Ailgylchu y DU (UKHCA), ac rwy'n gweithredu fel cynrychiolydd y DU ar bwyllgor Ffederasiwn Ailgylchu Ewropeaidd. Rwyf wedi bod yn rhan o drefnu a rhedeg nifer o gystadlaethau Para-seiclo proffil uchel, yn fwyaf nodedig oll oedd y Pencampwriaethau Para-seiclo Rhyngwladol Eurotunnel Kent a gymeradwywyd gan UCI a gynhaliwyd ym mis Medi 2010 yng nghylchdaith rasio Fowlmead yng Nghaint. Trefnwyd y digwyddiad hwn yn bennaf ar y cyd â chydweithwyr o'r Uned Datblygu Chwaraeon Anabledd, Cyngor Sir Caint, a hwn oedd y digwyddiad Para-seiclo ffordd cyntaf â chaniatâd UCI (P1) a gynhaliwyd erioed yn y DU.

Mae gen i ddiddordeb hefyd mewn rhwystrau i gyfranogiad mewn unigolion sydd naill ai ag anaf cynhenid neu a gafwyd yn yr asgwrn cefn, ac rwy'n gwerthfawrogi bod angen dull amlddisgyblaethol, rhyngddisgyblaethol o'r maes hwn. Yn hyn o beth, rwyf wedi dod yn rhan o brosiect uchelgeisiol iawn gyda'r grŵp Battleback wedi'i leoli yn DMRC Headley Court, lle bydd tîm ras gyfnewid 8 dyn yn cael hyfforddiant a dewis i gystadlu yn y Ras ar Draws America (yr RAAM) ym mis Mehefin 2012. Bydd y ras 3,051 milltir hon o arfordir gorllewin-i-ddwyrain America yn cynnwys esgyniad cronnus o fwy na 100,000 troedfedd, ac yn ddiau bydd yn hynod heriol i'r garfan o feicwyr a fydd yn cynnwys cyfuniad o feicwyr unionsyth a beicwyr llaw.

Yn fwyaf diweddar, bûm yn rhan o drafodaethau i ddatblygu Grŵp Ymchwil Ewropeaidd mewn Chwaraeon Anabledd (ERGiDS) gyda chydweithwyr eraill o'r DU, yr Almaen, yr Netherland, Gwlad Belg, y Swistir a'r Eidal. Gobeithiwn y bydd y trafodaethau cychwynnol hyn yn arwain at ddatblygu platfform Ewropeaidd cryf iawn y gellir ymgymryd ag ymchwil ragorol arno.
