Mae hefyd yn goruchwylio nifer o fyfyrwyr traethawd hir ar draws pob lefel, o israddedigion, i lefel ôl-radd hyd at y rhaglenni doethurol.

Mae diddordebau ymchwil Dr McLoughlin yn cynnwys dulliau a yrrir gan ddata o ran cynaliadwyedd, dangosyddion cynaliadwyedd a chynllunio cynaliadwy ar gyfer twristiaeth a digwyddiadau. Mae'n parhau i gyhoeddi mewn amrywiaeth eang o gyfnodolion academaidd, gan archwilio materion megis dulliau cynllunio twristiaeth, cynllunio ar sail tystiolaeth ar gyfer twristiaeth a digwyddiadau, canfyddiadau o dwristiaeth gynaliadwy a nodi bylchau mewn sgiliau cynaliadwyedd.

Mae prosiectau ymchwil cyfredol yn canolbwyntio ar archwilio dulliau a yrrir gan ddata o reoli lletygarwch, mynd i'r afael â heriau strategol a gweithredol mewn lletygarwch a digwyddiadau, y defnydd o dechnoleg hygyrch mewn lleoliadau twristiaeth, ystyriaethau rheoli digwyddiadau ar ôl COVID 19 a datblygu ac adfywio yng Nghymru.
