The University of the South Pacific (USP), Fiji

Information:

‘Contrary to popular belief, Fiji isn’t exclusively white sandy beaches and palm trees! Spending a month at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji has been an immensely rewarding and eye-opening experience.

I completed a Staff Mobility Exchange in the International Office through the Erasmus Mundus DREAM project, assisting USP to develop their International Marketing and Recruitment capabilities. The University is one of only two Regional Institutions in the world, jointly owned by 12 South Pacific countries, which provides challenges and opportunities in equal measures.

As well as assisting the team here, the experience encouraged me to reassess my own working style at Cardiff Metropolitan, as well as taking away opportunities for further collaboration after the exchange period. The team at USP were extremely friendly and welcoming, making me feel like one of the family instantly, along with everyone I met in Fiji.

I’m very thankful to have had this opportunity, and for the support I received from my department in the UK which allowed me to embrace this opportunity. And of course I found a bit of time to enjoy the white sandy beaches as well!’
